Description
Inlay that mirrors the galaxy
Taarkaashi inlay work is the process of engraving/inlaying thin wire strips on wood. Despite being more than 500 years old, this artform has retained its exceptionally magnificent craftsmanship. The process of Taarkashi inlay is quite tedious and requires the utmost precision- starting from the seasoning and cutting of wood, to the inlaying and buffing. Today, this form of inlay can be seen on several utility products such as tables, boxes, mirrors and trays. Handcrafted boxes and several other wooden pieces are lined with shimmering and glistening brown-golden wire strips to create galactic circular and geometrical patterns.
