Dokra Rooster

Nearly 4000 years old, this art form is a type of metallurgical artwork that utilizes a unique ‘lost-wax casting’ technique to create aesthetic brassware items.Though the first piece Dokra art was found in the ancient Mohenjo-Daro civilization in the form of what is popularly known as the ‘dancing girl statue,’ the magnetism and simplistic appeal of this art continues to expand even today. The nature-inspired motifs engraved on the brassware are a reflection of the tribal community culture and add to the natural appeal of the craft. We travelled to Chattisgarh and West Bengal to pick up dokra roosters for you, an art form which celebrates life in all its glory.
