Description
The metallic in nature and nature in metallic
Nearly 4000 years old, this art form is a type of metallurgical artwork that utilizes a unique ‘lost-wax casting’ technique to create aesthetic brassware items. Though the first piece Dokra art was found in the ancient Mohenjo-Daro civilization in the form of what is popularly known as the ‘dancing girl statue,’ the magnetism and simplistic appeal of this art continues to expand even today. The nature-inspired motifs engraved on the brassware are a reflection of the tribal community culture and add to the natural appeal of the craft.
