Description
An art in the making for centuries
The Surpur style of painting is considered as a branch of the Vijayanagara style. The craftsmanship prospered under the support of rulers for around two centuries, especially during the rule of Immadi Venkatapa Nayaka and Mummadi Venkatapa Nayaka. The subject of this art form are folklore and Vedic mythology. Here is an art form which truly is rare simply because there are hardly any artists available for this dying format.
